A biography of a speaker at the South West Housing Event

Andrew Winfield

Andrew is Principal Consultant at IdeA and has worked in local government in England and Wales for 25 years. This has been with district and unitary authorities, working in front-line services and in the corporate "centre".

He is working with a number of IDeA clients across the South West to support improvement and development. He has gained practical working experience of corporate and planning peer reviews and is currently supporting the development of a new IDeA programme on Healthy Communities.

Recent work has been with the consortium of South West Fire and Rescue Services and leading on the housing strategy programme for the South West region.

When working previously with the improvement arm of the Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA) Andrew worked extensively on national benchmarking projects and the production of Good Practice Guides. This work was primarily concerned with performance measurement and management.

Andrew has a range of local government experience and is interested in recent developments in ‘place shaping’, partnership working and the development of the ‘community leadership’ role for local government.
