A biography of a speaker at the South West Housing Event

Jeremy Porteus, National Programme Lead – CSIP Networks, Department of Health

Jeremy is the National Programme Lead for CSIP Networks at the Department of Health. The Networks include the Integrated Care Network and the Better Commissioning, Housing and Telecare Learning & Improvement Networks.

Up until recently, Jeremy was the Housing and Telecare Network Lead.. He has particular responsibility for developing the Learning and Improvement Networks and working across health, housing and social services to promote and facilitate the commissioning and development of housing with care choices for older people, in particular, to the knowledge transfer and learning from the Department’s £147million Extra Care Housing and £80m Prevention Technology Grant programmes.

Prior to his present post, Jeremy was Head of Corporate Strategy at Anchor Trust and Head of Housing Services at the Royal National Institute for the Blind. He has over 20 years experience leading a wide range of innovative policy & research into practice programmes affecting older people and people with disabilities, including the government’s Supporting People initiative and, more recently, the development of Telecare. He chairs the Department’s Telecare Advisory Network.

Jeremy is the joint author Using Telecare: Exploring Technologies for Independent Living for Older People (Anchor Trust/Housing Corporation, 2000), edited and contributed to Assistive Technology and Telecare: Forging Independent Solutions for Older People (Policy Press 2002) and co-wrote Having our say: A housing action kit for older people (Care & Repair England, 2003).
