RURAL HOUSING ISSUES - Wendy Murphy

Around 70 delegates from all over the country have been taking part in action learning sets designed to help them tackle issues relating to rural housing. From this work a series of case studies and good practice examples has been pulled together, which is due to be published by IDeA next spring.

This session will look at some of the case studies and good practice examples covering issues such as:
- how can we deliver affordable housing in rural areas with no grant?
- How can we better engage communities to overcome nimbyism?
- How do we develop effective strategies for rural areas, especially given the emphasis on sub-regional working?
- How do we ensure the long term sustainability of villages and provide local services that support an active rural economy?

This is an opportunity to get an insight into a wide range of issues affecting rural communities and rural developments. It will focus on areas of importance to both local authorities and RSL's, and aim to inspire you to look at rural questions in a new light!
