Synopsis

Family Intervention - The Plymouth Project

The Plymouth project was set up and funded initially in 2007 by the Home Office (and now by DCSF) to prevent large families with multiple problems from heading towards eviction, and also to reduce ASB, crime, health issues, get the kids back to school, stop children being taken into care - and on and on. Plymouth Council was selected as one of 53 national pilots which have been evaluated to assist in a national picture as well as inform local South West results .

They have been selected to pilot the next phase of separate smaller projects tackling youth crime, child poverty and women offenders.

The workshop will cover the following:

  • explanation of scheme - concept/ methodology and how it works
  • consider some case studies
  • show results - demonstrate practical results from 69 families the Local Authority have worked with so far
  • share the results of external / government evaluation and national finding of reviews
  • explain costs and benefits - savings etc
